As Pakistan experiences record flooding ruining the home and livelihoods of millions of people, Plan knows it has its work cut out for it.
“Whenever large numbers of people are displaced by a disaster, the risks to children increase dramatically,” says Plan International Australia’s Disasters Manager Rohan Kent last week.
But over the last 12months Plan has been involved with working with families in flood affected areas on disaster risk reduction work. In short teaching children and their parents how best to cope with a disaster in their flood-prone villages.

Founded more than 70 years ago, Plan is one of the oldest and largest children's development organisations in the world and has no political or religious agenda.
The organisation works in more than nine developing countries helping communities to overcome poverty so children have the opportunity to reach their full potential.
Appeals
Current appeals the organisation is focussing on includes:
- Girl Fund
- Children in Crisis Fund - Plan urgently needs $US4 million to address the immediate needs of children and their communities affected by the record floods in Pakistan and invest in long-term recovery operations.
- Haiti Earthquake Appeal
- Livelihoods Appeal

There is lots of ways to assist Plan and their work including:
