Generous Party was launched on 1 February 2010. It is an online child's party planning
It is a unique site having at its heart the desire to help parents teach children the value of giving while celebrating their child's special day with their family and friends.
Hosting charitable kids birthday parties are not new concepts. They have been popular for a few years in the US and Canada, but have yet to be introduced in any coordinated way into Australia and New Zealand. Until now...
How does it work?
Choose invite
Parents and the birthday child ('Party Hosts') plan their party firstly by choosing from a variety of gorgeous online invitations available on the site.
Choose cause / charity, school or kinder
The Party Hosts then choose one charitable causes / charity to support. You can even choose your school or kinder. Party Hosts can change the charity they decide to support when online gift contributions from guests are received.
Get creative! Ask your guests to bring a small gift they have made from home
On the invite you can request your child's guests bring a little home made gift - a painting or drawing of them or your child, their favourite TV character, flowers from the garden or whatever inspires them to the party. This gift can be given to the child at the party.
Email guests invites
Using the online party planner party invitations will be emailed by the Party Hosts to guests via the secure personal email system (better for the environment!).
Guests make online gift contribution
Guests are asked to make a secure online gift contribution and in doing so help the charity of the birthday child's choice.
Contributions pooled then distributed to Party Host and nominated charity
Keep track of your guests online gift contributions via the personalised Party Planner on the site. The site handles invitations, RSVPs, thank-you notes and reminders as well as collecting guests contact details and allergy information.
Once party is closed and after a 15% administration fee is deducted, half of the remaining pooled online gift contributions are forwarded to the Party Host (via EFT) to purchase a special gift for your child. The other half is then provided to your chosen charity on your behalf and a tax invoice is forwarded directly to you.
